Happy Birthday...

...Thomas Edison!  Tom was born on February 11, 1847 and went on to accomplish a few things, including inventing the phonograph, the first device to record and play sound.  What was the first recording ever?  The classic children's poem and song, Mary Had a Little Lamb.  Quick, how many verses are there in Mary Had a Little Lamb?  If you answered 8, you are right.  If you only know 2, we're in the same boat.  To hear Tom himself reciting the first few lines, pay a visit to Mama Lisa.

My favorite quote attributed to Mr. Edison is, "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work."  That may well be my favorite quote attributed to anyone.  Then again, he said a lot of great things.
