Ayyy Mateys...Did ye be knowing that September 19th tis International Talk Like a Pirate Day ? 

I like pirates because they are one of those things that your average 6 year-old knows way more about than their supposedly educated parents...just like dinosaurs.  Here's a few resources to help you celebrate.

For  children's Pirate songs, try It's Great to Be a Pirate from the PBS show Between the Lions (the Between the Lions website has a bunch of great kids songs for you to check out) or The Pirates Song from the British Council website. 

A lot more fun is Eric Herman's Blackbeard, Bluebeard, and Redbeard off of Monkey Business.  Eric does a supreme Pirate voice and the song has a great, imaginative color theme. Really fun. To listen to the whole song, go to Eric Herman's website and select it in the jukebox at the top of the page.  If you need a great pirate song for Talk like a Pirate Day in a hurry, you can download  Blackbeard, Bluebeard, and Redbeard at iTunes.
